FIRST RECONCILIATION (CONFESSION)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (aka Confession, Penance, or Forgiveness) is normally celebrated before a child makes their First Communion. At St. Mary of the Falls, it is traditional to celebrate this Sacrament in December of their second year of Religious Education. For our day school this is Grade 2 and for PSR in Level 2.  One year of previous religious education is required in order to be prepared to celebrate the sacrament. Sacramental formation is covered in the classroom, but parents are also required to work with their child to help them in with preparation material. We ask parents, or at least one parent, to attend a mandatory meeting in September to help them with their own  adult faith formation, as well as, in parenting skills for forming their child’s moral compass and practice of reconciliation in the home.  A sacramental fee is charged to cover the extra cost of celebrating Reconciliation and First Communion.

Questions about First Reconciliation should be directed to:

Sr. Jane Reisinger at the Religious Education Office, 235-2808.
